Alex Montoya is the Director of Latino Relations for the San Diego Padres. He is also a motivational speaker - about issues pertaining to success, education, and overcoming disability obstacles. His debut book, Swinging for the Fences: Choosing To Live an Extraordinary Life, was released by Tate Publishing 2008. Learning about Alex's past, challenges and experiences is vividly documented in the book and is very interesting and inspiring.

Montoya is a 1996 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his Master’s Degree in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco, Orange County in 2008. Was named to San Diego Magazine's '50 San Diegans To Watch' list in 2000. He lives in San Diego, Always Positive, the Alex Montoya Story, a journey of Hope, Faith and Attitude.

Alex Montoya was one of the first San Diegans mainstreamed from special education to an integrated school environment in 1980. Born in Republic of Colombia, South America, Alex is a triple amputee from birth. Alex uses humor and inspirational stories to motivate, educate and elevate.

Alex has appeared in the major motion films Artificial Intelligence and Minority Report.

Most recently, he was the Director of Communications for the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SDCHCC) and on the event staffs for the San Diego Padres and Chargers. A former Olympic Torch Relay carrier, Alex believes in 'passing the torch' to audiences through presentations given to schools, corporations and civic organizations like Rotary and Shriners Clubs.
