Claire Conner McCaskill (born July 24, 1953) is an American Democratic politician, currently the US Senator from the state of Missouri and former State Auditor of Missouri. She is the first female senator from Missouri elected in her own right. She was cited by the New York Times to be among the seventeen women most likely to become the first female President of the United States.
McCaskill attended David H. Hickman High School in Columbia, where she was a cheerleader and Pep Club president and was elected homecoming queen. While attending the University of Missouri, McCaskill joined Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, graduating in 1975 with a B.A. in political science. She received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from The University of Missouri Law School in 1978.
